Syncing Fingertip subscribers to Beehiiv

Pre-requisites

Before anything else you'll need to have a Beehiiv account. Note that, you will be able to sync fingertip subscribers to Beehiiv even with a the Free tier account in Beehiiv.

Setting up a beehiiv API key

Login to your beehiiv account (https://app.beehiiv.com/) and find your way to the Settings menu found in the navigation bar on your left

With the settings page open, some new options will appear. Select Integrations:

Click on New API Key.

API keys is a special code that Fingertip will use to send instructions to Beehiiv when dealing with your account. With an API key, Fingertip will be able to act on your behalf. And in this case, sync your Fingertip subscribers to your Beehiiv publications!

You will be asked to provide a name for your API key. Type in a name for your key, you can name it anything you want, we recommend "Fingertip" just so you'd know where it will be used for 👍 When done, click "Create New Key"

Sweet! Make sure to copy your API key and save it somewhere temporarily. You can always delete the old one and create another one if you need to 👌

Creating a marketing list in Fingertip (optional)

First, navigate to your admin page (https://fingertip.com/admin). All Fingertip sites will automatically have a default "Marketing list". However, you can also create your own by navigating to "Marketing" > "Lists"

And assigning a descriptive name to it. Then click "Create"

And voila! Easy peasy.

Creating a beehiiv integration in Fingertip

First, navigate to your admin page (https://fingertip.com/admin) and search for the site you wish to add this beehiiv integration to. You can perhaps utilize the search function find your site faster. Then click on the site card.

Find your way to the navigation pane on the left. And under "Marketing" > click "Integrations" 

Click on "Add Beehiiv". This will open up the Beehiiv integration form.

Enter your Beehiiv API key from earlier and click "Connect"

Upon connecting, additional options will be available for your integration. Initially this integration will be disabled. You'll have to enable it by selecting a Fingertip marketing list (in this case "Marketing list" -- a.k.a. the default list) you'd like to sync from for your Beehiiv publication. (Don't forget to hit "Save changes")

Adding a subscribe widget

Now that we have integrations setup, we should have a way for our site visitors to subscribe to our newsletter. And yes you guessed it, its via the newsletter widget! Navigate to the page editor by clicking "My Page" > "Editor"

To the right, you should see the widget selection, search for "Newsletter" or "Subscribe":

Drag that into your page to add it. Then click the newly added block to select it.

Selecting a block will let you modify it. You should see a form open up on right side of the screen. Make sure the details are correct. And select the correct marketing list. 

When you are happy of all your changes there, click "Done".

You're all set! Let's test it on your page!

Seeing it all together

With an integration setup and enabled, site visitors who subscribe through the subscribe widget will also be added to your Beehiiv publication! Now visit your site, if you are coming from editor, click on the "Preview" > "View Page" button found at the top right of your screen

Clicking subscribe will open up the subscribe dialog form. Enter a test email you'd like to use and click the subscribe button:

You will get a confirmation afterwards.

Now login to beehiiv and navigate to Audience > Subscribers (https://app.beehiiv.com/subscribers) you should now see your new subscriber added to your publication!
